Terms

Terms of use

Last updated 17 September 2026

Plain terms for a small site. Using drawnfromtherecord.com means you accept what is set out below.

What this site is

Drawn From the Record publishes researched history for general interest. It is not professional, legal, financial or academic advice, and it is not a substitute for consulting the underlying records yourself.

Accuracy

Every effort is made to represent the record accurately and to cite what each piece was built from. Archival material is nevertheless incomplete and sometimes contradictory, and errors are possible. Nothing here is warranted to be free of mistakes. Corrections are welcomed and will be made.

The material on this site

Original writing, narration, design and map artwork are the property of Drawn From the Record. You may quote or link to them with attribution. Reproducing an episode or a map poster in full, or using them commercially, needs permission first.

Archival photographs, film and documents belong to the institutions that hold them and are used under the rights statements those institutions publish. Those statements, not this page, govern what you may do with that material. The sources page names the holder for each item.

Links to other sites

This site links to TikTok, Pinterest, an Etsy shop, and the archives themselves. Those are not under our control and we are not responsible for their content or their practices. Some outbound links are tagged so we can tell which page they came from; the Etsy links are to our own shop.

The mailing list

Signing up is optional and can be undone from any email. What is stored, and how to have it removed, is set out in the privacy policy.

Limitation of liability

This site is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, Drawn From the Record is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from using it or relying on anything published here.

Changes

These terms may change; the date above says when they last did. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the revised terms.
